Protector or cover?
A mattress protector is fitted over the top and sides of the mattress, under the sheet, and is taken off for washing. A mattress cover encloses the whole mattress with a zip. Care homes often use both: a sealed PU cover to protect the mattress core, and a washable protector for comfort and everyday hygiene.
Fabrics and finishes
- 100% cotton woven: a crisp, cool surface.
- 100% cotton jersey: soft, with stretch for an easy fit.
- Microfibre: light and quick to dry.
- 80% cotton terry: the most absorbent surface.
Anti-stress, antistatic and anti-fungal finishes can be added. For pillows, the waterproof pillow protector combines a cotton surface with a breathable PU membrane.

Frequently asked
Which mattress protector fabric is best for a care home?
It depends on how the beds are used and laundered. Cotton jersey fits easily and is soft, terry is the most absorbent, and microfibre dries fastest. Tell us the setting and wash routine and we will recommend one.
Do you make pillow protectors as well?
Yes. The waterproof pillow protector has a 100% cotton surface and a breathable PU membrane.
What are the lead times?
Depending on order size, production typically completes within two to nine weeks. The exact lead time is confirmed in writing in the quotation.
