What a hospital mattress cover has to do
A mattress on a hospital or care bed is used around the clock and cleaned far more often than one at home. Its cover has to keep blood, infusion fluids and urine out of the foam core, survive repeated disinfection and hot washing, and stay comfortable for a patient who may lie on it for days.
What to look for
- A fully enclosing cover with a zip, so no part of the core is exposed.
- A breathable PU-coated fabric rather than an airtight one, so the patient sweats less.
- Two-way stretch, so the surface moves with the patient instead of creasing.
- Test values you can check. Our barrier fabric is tested for hydrostatic head (EN 20811), water-vapour permeability (ASTM E96) and flame retardancy (BS 7175 Crib 5).

PU or PVC: which is better for a hospital mattress cover?

How do I measure a mattress for a cover?
Measure the length, width and depth (thickness) of the mattress, and note whether the corners are rounded. Send those with the quantity.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
For products made from fabrics we hold in stock there is no minimum order quantity. Custom productions are quoted per programme; tell us what you need and we will confirm what is workable.
