Stitched or welded?
A stitched seam joins two panels with thread, and every stitch pierces the coated fabric. Seam tape or sealing can close those holes, but the seam remains the most likely path for fluid into the core.
A welded seam is fused instead. HF welding heats the coating with radio-frequency energy, ultrasonic welding with high-frequency vibration, and the two layers become one, with no thread and no holes.
Welding suits covers that are disinfected often and must keep fluids out of the core over a long service life. Our stitched PU hospital mattress cover remains the choice where maximum stretch and softness matter most. Tell us the use and we will recommend the construction.
Specifying a welded cover
Send the length, width and depth of the mattress or pad, the shape of the corners, any cut-outs, the closure you need and the quantity. Tell us how the cover will be cleaned and disinfected, so the coating and seams are specified for it.
We choose HF or ultrasonic welding per construction. A sample run is made before production, so you can check the fit and the seams on your own mattress, and covers can be produced under your brand.
